Plant hope in the barren soul

Be a beacon of light

In someone’s desolate depths,

Be a flare of fun

In someone’s glooming grief.

Bring out the childlike cheerfulness,

From their dull dreariness,

Bring the wandering weary home,

And put them to some rest.

Hear them speak

About their loneliness,

Then hear some more,

As they open up about their unhappiness.

Let them talk

About their sole meanderings,

Give them a shoulder,

As they push a tear into nothing.

And when they’re finally empty,

When all their sufferings have been told,

Nourish and nurture them with love,

And plant hope in the barren soul.
