Old lies in my vase

I refuse to give in,

To your acts of deception anymore,

To the fabrications

You disguised in the silken threads

Of falsehood.

And I refuse to forgive you

For the times you crushed

My assumptions

Under the parched trunk

Of your soi-disant ego.

But I’ll also never forget

How I let you

Plant old lies in my vase.

The thorns of which

Hacked me deep beyond the flesh

Running me dry

Of the sanguine water of life.

And I could do nothing but watch

How one by one, over the years,

The flowers from my bouquet

Of love, trust and patience

Slowly withered away.
